I've submitted a potential claim to my insurance company. What happens next?
Claims Management Services will appoint one of its expert surveyors/loss adjustors to investigate the reported damage. One of our claims partners will contact you as soon as possible to arrange a mutually convenient time to inspect the damage. At the inspection, the surveyor/loss adjustor will discuss his conclusions and assessment with you. If the damage is covered under the terms of your insurance policy, the surveyor/loss adjustor will advise you of the scope of works required to return your property back to its pre-loss position.
Dependent on your insurer, the surveyor/loss adjustor will provide you with the option of either using your insurance company’s repair network or provide you with a cash settlement for you to instruct a contractor of your own choice.
Following their visit, the surveyor/loss adjustor will prepare a detailed report on the damage summarising their earlier conclusions and recommendations. The report will be sent to you by your appointed claims partner who will also arrange for the instruction of all of the surveyor/loss adjustor’s requirements. The claims partner will continue to keep you regularly updated on the progress of your claim and will assist you with any queries which may arise.
Who pays the surveyor/loss adjustor fees?
Once your insurer has instructed Claims Management Services to investigate the damage at your home, your insurer will cover our fees and the costs irrespective of the validity of your claim.
What does policy excess mean?
The policy excess is the amount you have to contribute towards the cost of your claim. You will find details of your policy excess in your policy booklet.
When will my property be repaired?
Where there is cover under the terms of the policy, your claims partner will send you a schedule of repairs with your copy of our surveyor/loss adjustor’s report.
How long will my claim last?
Every claim is unique and the length of the claim will be dependent on the nature and the extent of the damage. We will use our knowledge and experience to help reduce the time taken to settle your claim.
